So, long story short...

Jeff Rose made the mistake of

representing a client in a mediation with a defendant I knew in high school

My Advice to You is

remember people in your past, they will more than likely appear again in the future

Here's the whole story

While working for a law firm as a clerk, my boss gave me the opportunity of sitting second chair in a mediation, because I had an interest in Dispute resolution. Anyway, I prepared for the opening, and even made the comment, "wow, this guy lived close to my parents!" Long story short, they recognized me, and I didn't recognize them, requiring me to recuse myself from the mediation. Luckily, it did not permanently affect the case.
