So, long story short...
While Lui Carvalho was on my way to paradise (I mean Brazil)
Lui Carvalho made the mistake of
flying UNITED
My Advice to You is
Never EVER fly UNITED
Here's the whole story
United sucks. If you want to go to Brazil take a Greyhound to Mexico, a boat to Venezuela, a bike to Bolivia, swim through the Amazon river and walk to Sao Paulo. I'm pretty sure you will end up getting there earlier than if you fly UNITED.

How much of a delay was there?

I hear that Continental does a pretty good job of getting down there
just a 24 hour delay. No hotel, taxi or food voucher. Very fair Airline...
yet another reason you should have stayed at 117 island drive.
