Here's the whole story
So I was about to graduate and had decided to take a job across the state in what sounded to be an awesome opportunity as an engineer inspector for a Runway reconstruction. So i walked across that stage, got my piece of paper, grabbed all of my things and moved 400 miles away. I was happy and full of energy to start my new career, but I soon realized one thing....I dont know anyone here. Little do you realize how important your friends are to keeping your sanity until you find yourself in a strange place with no one to talk to, let alone hang out and drink with. But i have learned from this and have been keeping myself busy working, learning new things and actually meeting people.
When you go to make that leap, make sure you've thought about everything, and not just how work is gonna be or where am i gonna live. Also, know that there will always be something that will blindside you and make you say, "Why didnt i think of that before?". Just keep truckin.
On a cheesy side note, I've learned that money does not buy happiness, i'd trade the nice pay checks in to be able to hang out with my hometown kids everyday anyday, except im no quiter.

I know exactly what you're going through man. I'm just lucky enough to only be an hour away. You can't really put a price on being able to just hang out and get a beer with your buddies after work.
People always discount the importance of just "being happy" for a higher pay check.
Hi Mike, This is so familar to me. When i graduated from college, i moved to Orlando where I only knew my brother. For the two years that i was there, i made some of the best friends i think i'll ever make. About 6 months ago, I moved to Chicago. I'm finding myself in the same boat...I'm in an amazing place but I don't really know a whole lot of people again. But based on my experience in Orlando, I know it just takes a little bit of time :) You made the right choice. it takes guts to move from all that is comfortable to you. Just give it a chance and you'll find happiness in your new place...
