keeping a journal with my best friend
My Advice to You is
don't write down things you never ever want other people to read
Here's the whole story
When my best friend and I separated for college we decided to be very 7th grade and start 2 journals that we'd write our experiences down in, and then trade whenever we saw each other. That way, we'd never miss anything from our college years!
So... my best friend's parents are crazy. Her dad is a pastor and her mom is a pastor's wife. Need I say more? We'd had the journals for over a year when her parents got suspicious because we were so secretive of them. Her mom...ransacked her room...found the journal and had a little open book session with the pastor. I believe these words came out of their mouths..."We FORBID you to ever see Nicki again" and "She is the devil." Isn't religion great?
Now keep in mind that we were 19 years old at the time... it's not like we were 13 and getting into trouble. But her mother took it upon herself to call MY mother and let her in on her findings.
Lesson learned... don't write down anything you don't want your best friend's highly religious parents to read because if you have a journal they will probably find it.
The saddest part was...we drove to the dump, journals in hand, and tossed them over the edge while in tears. As we did, a passerby yelled "What is that, ya'lls diaries?" Yeah he probably rescued them and currently uses them as reading material in his bathroom.

man i've been called a lot of things in my life, but not the devil. lol, congrats.
Either that or the guy's making a screenplay from them and you'll be stuck in litigation for image rights for the next few years.
