So, long story short...
treynolds7 made the mistake of
thinking I could figure it all out on my own
My Advice to You is
arrogance on either side of an argument, particularly in religion is ridiculous
Here's the whole story
I was raised in a protestant church, grew up believing everything I was told, and really never thought about questioning religion.
Then one day it was like a light went on in my brain and I couldn't shake the feeling that I had figured it out, that there wasn't a God and I could (sort of) reason my way through why this was.
Then a while later I went through some hard times and had to face some issues I had in my life. What it boiled down to was a life without the religious undercurrents was empty to me. And from learning to question my core beliefs I was able to confront a pride issue I had in believing I could "solve" the problem of whether or not there was a God.
I've learned to be an accepting person who can see both points of view and I think I can sympathize with any religious or non-religious view.
I simply choose to believe because its a deep and fulfilling way to live.
I also choose not to be arrogant toward other's veiws.
I think the world should try this more often.
