So, long story short...
While sailgrl was in high school
sailgrl made the mistake of
thinking you have to go a name brand school to be successful
My Advice to You is
You can be successful no matter what college you go to
Here's the whole story
My parents convinced me from fourth grade on, that I could only be successful if I went to a top twenty college. I went to a top twenty school and it was great, but you can be happy and successful going to any school. I'm a high school teacher now, and I see these seniors who think their lives are over because they didn't get into their first choice school. Now that I am in my 30s, some of the happiest and wealthiest people I know didn't even go to college or went to an unknown school. So, my advice is...trust that where ever God takes you is where you are meant to be.

Most of the people I look up to the most didn't go to college or dropped out early. Its definitely not for everyone.
This is definitely useful for me for reassurance. I am a 3rd year at the University of California, Irvine and I beat myself up from time to time thinking I made the wrong choice attending this school. However, along with what you said and what other older peers say, "the sky's the limit," and going to a non-Top Twenty school is okay. Thanks for your post!
I can definitely relate. I attend the University of Florida studying Building Construction. Recently, I've been through some trials involving my progression in the program (mostly due to our new, power-hungry head of department). Sometimes I wonder if I should of just swallowed my pride and transferred to UNF, and finish a lot earlier. The BCN program there is on the rise and very respectable, and I wouldn't have to go through the same headache I'm going through now. When you think about it, all you need is that piece of paper; you could of get it anywhere. The construction industry, especially, is notorious for hiring people for jobs that had nothing to do with their major.
Something is keeping me here in Gainesville, for reasons unknown. Problems that seem monumental at first somehow work out in my favor. God might have a grander scheme for me here at Florida...who knows.
Great advice. I agree 100% but sadly many people still think that good school = successful career.
