So, long story short...

While Mirko Bell was 1 month younger

Mirko Bell made the mistake of

trashing the Itunes folder in the music folder

My Advice to You is

don't trash that and don't empty the trash after a deletion.

Here's the whole story

I have all my music on an external drive, so I thought it was safe to delete that folder. Unfortunately, in that folder iTunes tracks the album artwork and song rating.

I've done it too ... I've also made the mistake of allowing iTunes to reorganize my music according to it's tags. Unfortunately, some of the files were not tagged properly or had blank tags .... big mistake! I'm still recovering from that one.

In the meantime, I've moved from using iTunes as a player to using MediaMonkey (http://www.mediamonkey.com/) [Disclaimer: I don't work for, or own MediaMonkey in any way. I'm just one hell of a satisfied customer).
