the_designdiva made the mistake of

being ripped off by a vendor

My Advice to You is

When traveling to other countries it's a good idea to be aware of prices and count your change. And don't be shy to call someone out if they cheat you.

Here's the whole story

While waiting at Roma Termini (Rome Central Station) I stopped into one of the vendors for a can of soda and a snack. The guy at the register gave me an ominous, knowing look which distracted me from the 1 Euro less he was supposed to be giving me in change. I'd read from the travel guide this is exactly the sort of thing that so often happens to tourists in Rome.

If you're not familiar with the Euro it's an easy thing to overlook. The 1 Euro and 2 Euro coins look similar enough to easily confuse an unsuspecting traveler.

Whenever I travel outside the country, I always feel like I'm getting the "ominous, knowing look." The sad thing is, the same thing happens to tourists in America all the time.
