So, long story short...

Lisa made the mistake of

taking highway 19 through the Smokey Mountains when it started snowing.

My Advice to You is

check the weather before you drive through mountains.

Here's the whole story

Driving from Cherokee, NC to Asheville, NC, I decided to go through the mountains because it was a pretty morning. Weather down the mountains differs from what is going on up top. It was snow storming and with the turns of the mountains, people were riding their brakes. They do not salt the mountain roads, so I lost traction and had to pump my brakes (no ABS). Scary to lose control of your car on top of a mountain. Check weather.com before driving next time. :)

I hope you eventually got to the Biltmore Estates, because they're beautiful, if a little ostentatious

Hi Beth, yes I did explore Asheville and the Biltmore Estates. It took a bit of time before they had gotten any snow that day, so it was really pretty to head out there.
