So, long story short...

Edgar Vergara made the mistake of

looking the wrong way when crossing the street

My Advice to You is

learn to look the right way, or don’t jaywalk

Here's the whole story

London is a big city full of expensive cars. Expensive cars with drivers that would not have a problem running you over if you got in their way. I consider myself to be a decently skilled jaywalker. I flaunt a perfect ongoing record of never getting a ticket and never getting hit by a car. My no ticket no hit streak almost came to a screeching halt in the land of fish and chips.

Everyone knows that in England, they drive on the “wrong” side of the road. What most people don’t think about is what effect this has on the sport of jaywalking for the away team. It wasn’t until I came inches from getting hit by a car (that didn’t even bother to honk) that I realized I have to look right first then left when crossing the road in England. I thought that this would be an easy thing for me to adjust to. After a few more close calls, I soon found out that I just couldn’t overcome the urge to look left to right that has been ingrained into my brain since the days of crosswalk guards and safety patrols. Since I couldn’t force myself to look right first, I ended up constantly turning my head back and forth looking left, right, left, right… until I found myself safely across the road, but with my heart racing. What I’ve come to realize is that for some people, jaywalking is best kept a domestic sport.
