So, long story short...

While Dennis Eusebio was working on a website

Dennis Eusebio made the mistake of

not using png's in my flash movies

My Advice to You is

although they appear larger, when you export flash you'll get better results with png's

Here's the whole story

Basically, by using png's in your flash movies instead of jpg's you get a reduced file size and better visual quality. Its really odd because the file sizes are significantly larger than a jpg but somehow flash processes them and makes them smaller.

Thanks to Levi for pointing this one out to me.

I think we could make an entire category for photoshop, illustrator and flash mistakes. I learned this one through the Kirupa forums a couple of months into my job at the ATP. I was doing so many flash banners and nothing ever looked good when I tried to use transparency; in come the png files!

Because JPG is highly compressed, it doesn't compress much further. PNG, as far as I'm aware, is relatively uncompressed, and therefore significant gains can be made with a Flash or similar process.
