So, long story short...

While Edgar Vergara was troubleshooting my internet connection

Edgar Vergara made the mistake of

not checking the obvious

don't make things more complicated than it really is

Here's the whole story

For months now I’ve been putting up with a spotty internet connection. I’m sure that most people know the drill. When the internet goes out, you reset everything by unplugging the router and unplugging the modem. If you really want to get fancy, you start to mess with the IP address. It’s all a pretty “minor” inconvenience. At least it would be if it didn’t happen almost every other day. At times the reset method wouldn’t work and I would just assume that the service is down. Just recently I made this same assumption, at least until the service was down for three days in a row. I finally called the cable company only to hear that the internet should be working fine. Long story short, after twenty minutes of troubleshooting, it turns out the problem was a bad splitter. Damn those cable splitters.

I had a bad router and went without internet for months. All I had to do was remove the router.
