get the applecare program
Here's the whole story
Basically, my laptop started going to sleep randomly and other misc crazy behavior about 2 months after my factory warranty went out.

Ah, yes, the mysterious Apple curse. Apple's laptops are <em>NOTORIOUS</em> for going to shit right after the warranty runs out. The Applecare program is cheap and well worth it.
Also, in my opinion warranties on laptops are absolutely necessary in general. I just don't think all that computing power can be crammed into those little tight spaces and then jostled around the country/world without going to crap.
Good to know, I just made sure I added the AppleCare Protection Plan to my shopping cart. But this is for my iMac.
