Here's the whole story
So, I moved to Germany and figured bringing my PS2 would be a good ice-breaker and welcomed diversion. So, in the space where I could have been storing, oh, say, warmer clothes, I packed my PS2 and all it's cords/controllers/potential airport security threats.
When we got around to trying to plug it into the television, I was presented with no Audio/Video inputs and some bizarre plug I've never seen for the actual TV signal. So we went to Game Stop (how about that for some international flavor) and bought this crazy golden plug that goes from the PS2 to the television.
Should be good to go, huh? Nope. Even with my European power adapter the damn thing gets no power when plugged in. So, we go out and buy a European power cord. Plug that in and... still... nothing. Different Amps/Volts/whatnot.
Would have probably been better off just buying a European PS2...or Wii for that matter.

Update: Fixed the problem...kinda. Bought a power "transformer" at the flea market. It's almost the size of the PS2 but converts the power to the right voltage. Now the problem is I think the color output is different from the states to Germany. Everything has a noticeable green tint to it that I can't get rid of. It's like playing on an old 386 computer screen!
