My Advice to You is
Just use Windows Defender instead
Here's the whole story
I was surfing the net with AVG AntiSpyware, when I suddenly discovered it had shut itself off. Unknowingly, I had installed a Trial version. After that, I ended up with some nasty virus that caused my Windows XP to be completely and totally inoperable and almost impossible to fix. Even after I managed to get it working, I was still having difficulties, so I had to reinstall XP all over again. Fortunately, I had all my information backed up, but this still caused me a week's worth of pain. Next time, just use Windows Defender and forget about some stupid trial software that's completely unreliable. And please don't harp on how I should be using Linux. I'm a gamer, so Linux and Mac is a complete waste of time.

I frickin hate AVG now. It started off so great but something happened eventually that just made it impossible to use.
I'm not going to harp on you about Linux or Mac, but AntiSpyware programs do not protect you against viruses. However, AVG do make a terrific free anti-virus program that has served me well for a long time.
One time I tried install norton antivirus on my intel mac. Everyday at 12.00 the mac was crashing. ahha I found out it was norton some weeks later. what a pain.
For windows I use avast, it's free and never had a virus.
AVG used to make good software. and i USED to love NAV too. but i am on Nod32 and spywsweeper nowadays. i don't trust anything microsoft, lol.
