I too decided to give my dad a second chance, he hadn't changed either, but he passed away shortly after our supposed "reconciliation." I still regret it.
I recently gave my dad a second chance also. It's paying off. Our relationship is really starting to grow and I feel so much closer to him now.
Even if your second chance doesn't end the way you want, at least you can be content knowing that you gave it a try.
