Cordon’s Story

So, long story short...

While Cordon was in high school biology.

Cordon made the mistake of

believing my teacher's postulation that my pet does NOT love me.

My Advice to You is

NEVER EVER EVER send your son to an all boys, Catholic high school.

Here's the whole story

In my junior year of high school, Ms Blackburn told my biology class that our dogs and cats do NOT love us. She theorized that these animals demonstrate behaviors that trigger owners to loyally feed and protect them. As humans, we supposedly anthropamorphise (sp?) this behavior and interpret it as love, even though it's not.

I remember having a subsequent conversation about this with classmate, Marco Balducci who was altogether disturbed that his Saint Bernard, McKinnley, had absolutely no attachment to him.

Years later, I live with my two cats, Reesie Monkey and Ramosramos, jr, and I sometimes catch myself revisiting Blackburn's claims that my cats don't love me. When they curl up in a ball and go to sleep next to me every night...is that NOT love? When I come home from work despondent and depressed and they seemingly know that I am down...and show extra affection...is that just to get a Friskies Crunchy Salmon and Shrimp treat from me? When a 'guest' comes over and their little eyes jealously burn holes in that 'guest'...is that just anthropamorphisizationizinginginging-expialidocious-ing?

So after all this second guessing I've come to the conclusion of...

WHO GIVES A SH*T?!

Animals make me happy damnit! Suck on them apples Blackburn!!!

The only thing about that argument is that no one will ever never know for sure if other animals can feel "love". So given that, isn't it okay to assume that they do and be happier?

Cruelty to animals applies to creatures believed to have a soul. If an animal has a soul, I'm inclined to belive they are capable of love.
