So, long story short...

jeffmehlhoff made the mistake of

My Advice to You is

Spend consciously, and maybe when you get your statement you'll have something to show for it

Here's the whole story

Month after month, my American Express Rewards card rips me apart. The idea of cutting the card up frightens me, because American Express cards are amazing tools to postpone emergency financial situations. However, if you abuse it like I do on stuff you don't need and have nothing to show for come statement time, it's your worst enemy.

My advice is spend consciously and leave the card in your wallet.

Oh credit card debt.. Maybe you should opt for the pay the full balance every month card? That could keep you in check!

The "great" thing about my AMEX Rewards card is that I HAVE to pay the balance off every month. Hence why it rips me apart every month. Now only if I could the balance off on my Visa...
