So, long story short...

While Edgar Vergara was Living On My Own

Edgar Vergara made the mistake of

losing the security deposit

My Advice to You is

do a thorough move in inspection

Here's the whole story

After two years of living in the dorms at UF, a buddy and I finally decided to move into a condo. After forking over the security deposit, I was supposed to do an inspection of the place before we move in to address all preexisting damages. I was naïve as to how important this process really is. I ended up doing a quick walk through of the place without seeing or noting any major defects.

Fast forward two years later, my roommate and I graduate and move out. I spent hours cleaning the place up to make sure that we get our security deposit back. Two weeks later, I get a letter from the realtor telling me that we were pretty much not getting anything back. They had a long list of knick knack things to charge us for. Most of which, was there before we moved in. So no matter how small or insignificant you might think something is, make sure you note it on the move in inspection or they WILL charge you for it later.

That's weird. We had a bunch of things happen to our place and we still got ours back:

1) Your roommate punched a hole in our wall. 2) Our kitchen sink exploded and water damage was everywhere 3) Burn marks on the floor 4) Etc.

But yea, in general its always good to take note of everything. For instance, I hope I don't get charged for all the nails and holes in the wall when I move out of my room.

we left our last apartment in SHAMBLES (sail cove on gate parkway) and we got our security deposit back.

come to think of it, when i lived with travis in Boardwalk (now Beleza), we left that place in not so great condition either. which reminds me, Travis where is your story about screen printing ink and bath tubs?

Yeah, my roommate also punched a hole through our pantry door... Surprisingly though, that was only a small portion of the damages they claimed.

If he ever punches any holes at my apartment, I'll take a knife to his intercooler.

"If he ever punches any holes at my apartment, I'll take a knife to his intercooler"

Then there will be two things with holes in it, nobody wins!

you dipshit, we lived in the dorms for one year and lived at the condo for 3. Is your mind already going?

P.S. The pantry door had it coming.
