So, long story short...

Jennifer made the mistake of

Giving all my tax records to my oldest daughter.

My Advice to You is

Be smart make sure that anything really important is handled yourself and never let important papers out of your sight!.

Here's the whole story

My daughter offered to prepare my 2005 taxes using the computer tax software she used. Somewhere between the time I gave her my tax records and now, all my W 2's disappeared and let me tell you, that creates a headache you don't want to deal with. I've done taxes several times using the tax forms and instructions (the old fashioned way) and had them come out exactly right so I'm wishing I'd just done them myself. It would have been a lot less of a headache.

Yea tax software really doesn't cover all the bases it should. Not to mention making copies of all those uber important docs make a lot of sense.
