zeroenthusiasm’s Story

So, long story short...
zeroenthusiasm made the mistake of
eating at Denny's every single night for a year straight
My Advice to You is
to live and eat healthy, avoid any and all fast/diner foods, and don't take your body for granted
Here's the whole story
Somewhere between 2005 and 2006, I had lost all my friends, was dealing with a broken heart, was scared of initiating relationships, platonic or romantic, with male or female, and just so happen to be poor and living in an area where there is literally NOTHING to do and NOWHERE to go.
I at least had one friend, Matt, who was somewhat in the same situation, and he introduced me to the wonders of eating out and loitering for long periods of time into the nights at Denny's, a popular diner I'm sure you've all heard of before and even probably eaten out at.
One night turned into one week. One week turned into one month. One month turned into one year. We went to Denny's every... single... night, for just about a year. We ate there every single night, whole dinners, and stayed there, just sitting, fraternizing with waitresses who got to know us pretty well, and/or playing games of Scrabble.
Me living off of a disability check every month, and my friend working t FYE at a mall, we spent about $10 a night, consuming what was probably between 1,500 and 2,000 calories a night, including an unimaginable amount of grease and fat, through meals of Boca burgers, French toast with eggs and hashbrown, and various sweets like Reeses pies and Oreo brownie mixtures, no to mention with an average of about twenty large glasses of Coca-Cola with free refills.
It weighed down on me, literally. I gained twenty-five pounds. Twenty-five pounds that really mattered and dwell specifically on my stomach. And now I'm semi-overweight and visibly fat. In comparison to my thin body of 175 pounds at 5'8", I look like a disgusting, Italian blimp now. And in the past year or so since I stopped eating at Denny's every night, I have lost no weight whatsoever. I went vegan, I started drinking more water than soda, I got on metabolism pills, I started eating one and a half meals a day, ingesting under 2,000 calories a day, and began bike riding regularly. I also have pretty much quit all sweets, candies, and ALL fast food. Yet I haven't lost any weight. AT ALL.
So now I'm fat. And ugly. And physically disgusting. Even though I'm twenty, all the people I used to know make fun of me for it. I feel like I'm in Elementary School again. And I hate myself. And no matter what I do, no matter what dramatic life changes I make, I cannot seem to lose any weight. I don't gain anymore, but I also don't lose any. And now I'm stuck in this body where I constantly want to tear my skin off like a tight t-shirt and jump out. But I can't. This body is a closeted, sweaty prison and there's no way out. And it's all my fault.

I think your body needs time to overcome all of the rigors it was put through in your year of bad eating. I am assuming you haven't been working out for a year?
One thing that you need to remember is that your body will immediately feed off of muscle before it will feed off of fat. So if you are not eating enough food during the day, your body is simply breaking down all your muscle and you won't necessarily be losing any weight.
You should really try to eat 6-8 small meals throughout the day, drink at least 1 gallon of water and try to get rid of some of the stress in your life through physical activity. It is one thing to hop on a bike and eat less crap, but it is another thing to take control of the things that put stress on your body and take a stranglehold on your metabolism.
Don't expect results overnight either, it takes 6 months or so to restart your metabolism and get your body to respond to proper diet and exercise.
Good luck, and maybe you want to think about joining a gym? It's a great place to chat with people who may be going through similar things. Also a much better place than a bar to meet a potential significant other.
I bet the vegan thing will pay off over time. I've heard only good things from my vegan friends.
I started riding a road bike this past April as my primary form of exercise. I ran into some medical problems about a month after I got my bike and had to stop all physical activity for about a month and a half. I'm a vegetarian and I still gained ten pounds after that month and a half of inactivity.
I finally got back on my bike and even worked up to finishing a 40 mile ride (big win for me) but I too haven't lost any weight. I started doing a few crunches recently and I think that's helping but I'm certainly looking for more results. My friend Dennis mentioned getting my metabolism going through weight training so that might be a way to go.
