Edgar Vergara’s Story

So, long story short...
Edgar Vergara made the mistake of
taking the stitches out myself
My Advice to You is
some things should be left to professionals for peace of mind
Here's the whole story
So after ten uncomfortable days, it was finally time to take out my stitches. I call the walk-in clinic to see how much it would cost to take out my stitches. According to the pleasant secretary, the procedure would not be covered by my insurance and would cost about $40. “Forty bucks huh? I think I can do it myself, thanks.”
I find out later that night that proper suture removal tools are hard to come by and I have to settle for some antiseptic and some nail clippers. No biggie, I’ve improvised before. Taking out the sutures was actually pretty easy. One by one they came off and after I removed the last one I watch my skin split apart. “Hmmm…. I think to myself. There’s actually still a pretty big a** hole in my hand.”
When it was all said and done, I had a big split in my hand, but it wasn’t bleeding. My wonderful pharmacist girlfriend assured me that it would be fine and that it looked worse than it really was. I didn’t feel any pain so a few wound closure strips and I’m good to go. I can’t say that I wasn’t freaked out when I first took out the sutures though. I’d also be lying if I said I was completely at ease as I type this with my hand wrapped in a bandage. Right now $40 seems like a small price to pay for some peace of mind.

Jesus man, its only $40 bucks. Losing a hand to infection is not exactly a fun time.
I'll loan you the $40 next time, geezus.
you are ruining the bball comeback!
when do you want to come home and get our little friendly tournament going? Probably a weekend when the Gators don't play at home?
I'll be at the tournament as well...probably snapping pictures because I'm horrible at basketball. I think it took 2 hours for Ryan and I to play 21.
...That's one game...
It looks like a normal cut now. Waiting to get some feeling in it and for the wound to fully close before I touch a bball again. I might be good enough to play but out of shape by the end of the month.
