My Advice to You is
don't make jokes while others are in pain
Here's the whole story
After slicing a 2 inch incision across my palm, I had to go to the emergency room to get some stitches. I always try to make the best of a bad situation by making jokes and staying light hearted.
“Hey doc, nice job with the stitches could you hem some pants for me later?”
“Give me the best medical attention my insurance company can buy.”
“A recliner? This room has better furniture than my house. (the treatment room)”
I pretty much got a lot of odd stares. I guess it was inappropriate considering you could hear the moaning and crying of people in pain in the background. The doctor did make me laugh though whether he meant to or not.
“It’s good your hand is bleeding, you know why?”
“Iono, it pushes the bacteria out or something?”
“No, it means you’re alive.”
