So, long story short...
sailgrl made the mistake of
getting a second health insurance policy.
My Advice to You is
avoid having two health insurance policies. It means two bureaucracies to navigate.
Here's the whole story
I get a free HMO policy with United as a teacher at my school. All my teacher friends were telling me that United didn't cover anything and they were all complaining about our high deductibles. When my husband got his new job, we paid $1500 for a second health insurance PPO policy for me through Capital Blue Cross. We got that policy for me to be on the safe side. In my naivety, I thought that I could use Capital Blue Cross as my primary health provider because I was paying to have it as a PPO. Now Capital is saying they won't pay about $3500 in medical bills because they weren't my primary insurance provider. United is also saying they won't pay the bills because the bills are under my deductible. Now I have two health insurance companies not paying my bills because each says the other should pay or I should pay because I'm under the deductible for their respective policies. I've spent hours dealing with this over the past year. Keep your life simple and avoid having too many insurance companies in your life. Their goal is not to pay. Oh, and go see Sicko too so you can see the healthcare that other countries have.

Crap. I have two at the moment. I should figure out which one I want immediately.
