Lisa’s Story

So, long story short...
Lisa made the mistake of
going to IKEA without a plan
My Advice to You is
look at the IKEA catalog and prepare before going to the warehouse
Here's the whole story
I hate shopping for furniture when you have to actively work for it. IKEA is great because you get great style for relatively inexpensive prices, but keep in mind that everything is in BOXES. The one in Orlando, FL is set up with two floors: the top floor is the show room, cafeteria, and various home organization areas and the bottom floor is the kiddy play area, and the self serve aisles. You have to go through rooms and rooms and you may want to get everything. But you have to write it down (how many pieces, what aisle and what bin)... then go fetch it in its respective place, whether in lighting, shelving, or picking up boxes downstairs with those tiny "Home Depot flat carts." Then the tricky part is the tiny knick knacks and the large boxes all have to get checked out in these tiny check out lines with a bajillion people. Make sure to go to self check out because it's much much faster (you get to use your own gun and I'm sure we work faster than the cashier that hates their job). Also, you don't get to keep the bags so you have to purchase one or carry all the knick knacks in your hands. Make sure if you have a large item to pick up that it will fit into your car. My boyfriend and I learned the hard way... but with free twine, we managed to strap a king sized head/footboard to our roofrack all the way to Gainesville.
IKEA is amazing. It even has yummy food for cheap(try their swedish meatballs, apple glazed salmon and chocolate cake). Just be prepared to work for your furniture. Know what you want from their free catalog, bring it along with a tape measure and a shoulder bag for knick knacks, and things will go smoother. :)

Nice. Can't believe it didn't fly off the impreza on the way down.
Oh no, I had the rental SUV from the previous blog. :)
I can't imagine the damage I would do with my own purchasing gun
