Dennis Eusebio’s Story
Categories
So, long story short...
Dennis Eusebio made the mistake of
pushing my motor far beyond its limit and not having a backup plan
My Advice to You is
no matter clean your setup is, make sure you can survive financially if you plan to push its limits with forced induction
Here's the whole story
I had one of the best tuners in the world working on my car back when I was in college. We had the normal gsr turbo setup in my civic and were pushing a good 9lbs at the track when something horrible happened.
We cracked the sleeve about 5 inches and the entire motor just gave out. Apparently, there had to have been some kind of hair-line crack before and it just never showed any symptoms.
So even after all the careful planning and install and absolutely spot on A/F Ratio, the motor still blew. So basically, remember when you're doing swaps that its a used motor. And you can never know for sure what's been done to it before you swap it in.
Just have some kind of financial backup or insurance in case it does.

I remember this sad sight, a tow truck rolling into the apartment parking lot.
actually it was some dude in like a suburban who was just nice enough to give us a ride back while pulling the civic with a rope. We wanted to get him dinner or something but he had to split. I just remember Dennis looking like he was going to cry and me trying to cheer him up with a hearty "Let's go see what's left of your car!"
