Lisa’s Story

So, long story short...
Lisa made the mistake of
not finding out how rental reimbursement works
My Advice to You is
don't let insurance adjusters walk all over you
Here's the whole story
My car was hit by a State Farm insured driver and was in the shop from Tues through Fri last week. Unfortunately, I only had Tues and Thurs off that week from work. I could not reach the adjuster on Thur to verify if they would reimburse me for the weekend I would have to keep the rental car, but the collision expert told me it should not be a problem. Enterprise only had a hybrid SUV to rent to me and I had to pay over the allotted $30/day reimbursement but I had no choice, I have to work. The body shop finished my car on Fri but I could not pick it up until Monday because 1) Enterprise is closed on the weekends & they would not let anyone else drop off the rental, 2) I work from 6:30 am to 11 pm on Fri, and worked the weekend. I could not drop the car off until Mon, and now I am told I will only be given $150 for 5 out of the 7 days I needed the rental. The money is not the issue, the issue is the principle that my insensive adjuster was not understanding of my situation, told me that it was my responsibility to arrange for it to be done on Friday and it was "my CHOICE" to take the rental for the weekend. It was not my CHOICE to be hit by an elderly couple who actually hit and ran... not my CHOICE to pay extra for the gas that was guzzled by a larger car... not my CHOICE to have to defend myself for being reimbursed an extra $60 out of $410 I spent on that rental car.
I talked to Enterprise and they said that adjusters can arrange for days that you can't pick up your car in the shop, they said he was just being a jerk because he could. I'm filing a formal complaint. Grr.

Update: do talk to the supervisor... it's a headache, but eventually you can negotiate your terms.
Anything involving car insurance and payouts can be fought tooth and nail.. it is there job to get 99% of people to say "okay" and pay out of their pocket. Insurance companies should pay for EVERYTHING.
