So, long story short...

While vivtho was riding my bike

vivtho made the mistake of

not wearing a helmet

My Advice to You is

wear a helmet. It just takes you a minute.

Here's the whole story

I was riding with my girlfriend when a drunk driver in a car slammed into us from behind at high speed. I was tossed over the handlebars, while she was thrown to the side. Neither of us were wearing helmets and we both blacked out. I injured my head and tore part of my ear and required several stitches and a bandage half the size of my head.

No matter how uncool you might think you look wearing a helmet, you'd look way 'uncooler' wearing a bandage like that.

On another note, my faith in fellow humans was broken that night when the driver of the car took advantage of us being unconscious to drive away without helping us. It was other passers-by who helped us. Two of them took us to the hospital, one of them used a truck to take my bike home and two others on bikes tried to chase down the car that knocked us down.... maybe the human race isn't so bad after all.

I still don't understand how wearing your seatbelt is the law and wearing a helmet isn't.

Actually, in the part of India where I live, there is a law requiring motorcycle & scooter riders to wear helmets, but it is not really enforced.

The irony of my situation is that I normally wear a helmet, but skipped it that one time because it was just a short ride.

in addition I also suggest wearing a helmet in general even when just lounging around the house. YOU NEVER KNOW!
