Lisa’s Story

So, long story short...
While Lisa was a poor student about to graduate pharmacy school
Lisa made the mistake of
not negotiating with big corporations, prior to signing a contract to work them
My Advice to You is
if there's a need for you, negotiate benefits
Here's the whole story
Sold my soul to CVS without thinking of all the extra perks I could add into my contract before I signed it last October. Those big chains get you to sign early so you don't have time to think. :) It's a great deal, but I wish I would have thought of some perks before I signed the big X.
For instance, like extending the dates I need to get licensed by... or taking my exam in the Keys with a paid flight/room for a weekend. If there is a market for your career, milk the benefits.

Agreed. I used to always think it was 'us' trying to work for 'them'... In reality its 'them' really, really trying to get 'us' to work for them. If you are a valued employee/consultant or a prospect a given company is interested in...negotiate! More so if its a big company (give the little guys a break) as whatever the extra income might be or extra perk most likely isn't that big of a deal to them.
It always feels weird negotiating especially right out of school.
