Great advice. Finding that perfect job after college is tough and can sometimes lead to debt if you aren't working while looking.

Yeah, it took me about 5 months to finally find a job after college. I was fortunate enough to find a great first one.

But you're right, the most important step out of college is getting real-life experience, not money.

People always come out of college with illusions of grandeur of finding some kick ass job right away that they're going to love. If we all could only be so lucky. Most people won't be at the same job five years after they graduate. Even if you get a job you like, you should always keep your options open if it furthers your career.

Hell, I've had a new job every year since I've graduated.

Yo guys,

Thanks for the feedback on this. Of all the stupid mistakes, this comes to mind for me first. When I graduated the job market was terrible. It was a while back. I guess at the time I didn't realize how bad it was since I was a noob. I learned a lot from that though and I guess I wouldn't trade the hard knocks. OK, I might...

Hey Dennis, being where I am now it's obvious how important experience is. Not only job-specific, but life experience too. I'd take life experience (wisdom) over job (knowledge) most any day. You can use wisdom in almost every situation. You can't do that with knowledge.

And Jason... yeah I piled up some debt by waiting. Bad move.

Oh thank GOD. I've been really stressed out about this lately as I near the end of undergrad. It's nice to hear that I don't have to run out immediately after graduation and pick a career.
