So, long story short...

While Travis J. Todd was Running a Startup

Travis J. Todd made the mistake of

working after my full-time advertising job

My Advice to You is

quit your day job

Here's the whole story

I'm trying to get my own company going, but I'm also working in a 9 to late, high-stress, advertising job. At the office I expend all of my creative forces and when I get home afterward and try to get things rolling again on my side project my brain hurts. I can't focus and am almost physically drained from the day at work. This makes financial projections very very difficult.

So, while my advice may not suit everyone, I'm going freelance/part-time so I can focus on my passion project. Because spending 8 hours a day on something I'm excited about and an hour or two on advertising gets a lot more done than the reverse scenario.

Another option would be to get a mindless day job where you can get your work done in a hour and spend the rest of the day goofing off. Yeah, I know, some people get to do that...Some people don't work in advertising...

On the flip side of this is not having stable income or benefits. Not fun kids, not fun.
